I speak English, German and have learned French. I can read a fair bit of Norse. Being Norwegian, I understand our sister languages Swedish and Danish. I would lovelovelove to learn Italian and Spanish. Both languages are so beautiful! Maybe that should be my goal for the following year; start learning Italian :)

Jul. 22nd, 2011 08:12 pmI'm saddened, angry and scared tonight. The news coming out of Oslo is kind of surreal. Norway is normally such a peaceful little corner of the world. My thoughts go out to the citizens of Oslo and all those affected by this tragedy.

Jul. 2nd, 2011 05:55 pmbluespirit_star sent me a lovely picnic basket today \o/ So here I am, lounging by the lake. Rodney and Danny are watching John and Steve ride the waves, shaking their heads at their lunatic boyfriends. Tony and Kamekona are busy firing up the grill for later. O'Neill and Gibbs are deep in conversation, talking quietly while they unpack the rest of the food. A bit further down the beach Teyla is teaching Carter and Kono to use the Bantos rods; the two women moving gracefully as they try to follow Teyla's lead. Ronon is busy telling Daniel and Chin about his childhood on Sateda, the two men listening intently. Me? I'm just enjoying the pretty :) Far away I can see a tall woman approaching rapidly, dark pigtails bouncing as she moves. A bit further back an elderly gentleman is walking towards us at a more leisurely pace. I close my eyes and let the sun warm my face, smiling as the gang's all here :)Hilda, I'm doone!
Jun. 19th, 2011 11:09 amAs an Au Pair, this wasn't exactly what I enjoyed hearing the most :P But today there's a much more pleasant reason; I'm finally - FINALLY - done grading :) \o/ I plan to spend the day in my sunny garden, reading sheafrotherdon 's wonderful A Farm in Iowa verse and eat ice cream!

Royal Weddings :)
Apr. 29th, 2011 03:27 pmI'm a true romantic at heart. I cry every time I hear our national anthem. I'm never able to sing the second stanza of the hymn, Deilig er jorden. The list goes on! Today, I sat down to watch the royal wedding and it was beautiful :) The bride looked stunning and they all seemed to have a wonderful time and the crowds lining the streets were having a blast. The kiss was very sweet. My favorite royal kiss, though, must be when our Crown Prince Haakon wed Mette-Marit. The couple emerged from the church and shared a very tender moment with the crowds:

Aaah, my first love! I was three and Harald, the object of my affection, was 19. The reason for my crush? Our birthdays were on the same date..... I know, I know :) He was away on school during the week, but every Friday that spring, I sat outside our house in my prettiest, pink dress (same as in my icon), waiting for him to come home. So, he drove by, I waved and that was it. Being three, I of course never told him about my crush. In fact, I don't think we ever spoke at all!
